Loleena Ansari May, JD, AWI-CH, is a partner in the firm’s Employment Law group. Her practice is exclusively focused on conducting independent workplace investigations in the private and public employment sectors including tech, health, sports, education, and government industries. Loleena received a certificate from the Association of Workplace Investigators after successfully completing the 2022 Training Institute for Workplace Investigators.
Loleena conducts investigations in a flexible and pragmatic manner. Loleena’s extensive employment law experience provides her with a unique advantage in assisting companies to prevent, uncover, investigate and resolve employee and institutional misconduct. Her clients trust her to investigate high-profile and complex workplace matters, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower, workplace bullying, and other misconduct for private and public entities.
Loleena uses practical knowledge from her litigation and counseling experience, and her Master’s Degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, to serve as a problem solver for her clients. She has a proven track record of providing sound legal advice and pragmatic solutions on a wide range of legal matters to a diverse clientele of senior leaders and executives. Loleena also conducts employee training on a wide range of workplace topics, including anti-bias, discrimination, harassment, equity and inclusion, and conflict resolution.
Loleena has practiced employment law since 2016. During that time, Loleena represented employers in a variety of employment disputes, including wrongful termination, breach of contract, discrimination, whistle blower, harassment, retaliation, failure to accommodate, and wage and hour litigation. Loleena also advised small to Fortune 500 companies in various industries on how to comply with the law.
Combining her litigation and counseling experience, Loleena focused her practice on impartial workplace investigations and climate assessments while working for Van Dermyden Makus Investigations Law Firm.
Previously, Loleena was a Staff Attorney at Appellate Defenders, Inc., a non-profit law firm which administers the appointed counsel system for the California Court of Appeal. At ADI, Loleena honed her legal writing skills and complex legal analysis. She served as appointed counsel to indigent individuals on over 30 direct appeals and supervised over 45 direct appeals in the Fourth District California Courts of Appeal.
