Jason M. Avelar

Senior Associate

Overview

Jason M. Avelar is a member of the firm’s Employment and Business Litigation groups. He represents businesses of all sizes with a focus on wrongful termination, harassment and discrimination, as well as theft of trade secrets. Additionally, Mr. Avelar has represented businesses in disputes involving breach of contract, unfair business practices, unfair competition, and trade secrets under CUTSA and DTSA. He has also aided businesses through the complex issues surrounding workplace violence claims. Mr. Avelar has extensive practice experience in every phase of litigation, including before the trier of fact. He has litigated matters in federal court, state court, and private arbitration throughout California and Arizona.

Before joining Wilson Turner Kosmo, Mr. Avelar served as a judicial law clerk in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. Prior to his career as an attorney, Mr. Avelar served in the United States Marine Corps.

Representative Matters

  • Prevailed on a product liability matter as to all causes of action on a motion to dismiss in federal court.
  • Prevailed on a consumer warranty matter as to all causes of action on a motion for summary judgment in San Bernardino Superior Court.
