Katherine M. McCray is a partner in the firm’s Employment Law and Business Litigation Practice groups. In her employment law practice, Katherine has successfully represented clients ranging from large corporations to small businesses in single-plaintiff claims, class actions, and nationwide collective actions. She has handled cases involving, among other things, alleged employment discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, and wage and hour issues. Katherine also provides counsel to employers on a variety of employment-related matters, including compliance with California’s ever-changing employment laws, wage-and-hour practices, and crafting appropriate manuals, policies, and employment-related contracts. To facilitate her counseling practice, she continuously tracks developments in California and federal employment law, regularly writes updates on new developments, and trains human resources professionals and in-house counsel on new laws. As part of her business litigation practice, Katherine represents organizations of all sizes in complex individual and class matters in federal and state court, including disputes arising out of the Petroleum Marketing Practices Act (PMPA) and its California counterpart, unfair business practices, unfair competition, breaches of contract, antitrust issues, and franchise disputes. She has also assisted clients in responding to and resolving inquiries and investigations by the California government concerning consumer protection issues. Katherine has successfully represented clients in appeals before the Ninth Circuit and state appellate courts in both her employment and business litigation practices. As the firm’s Chief Learning Officer, Katherine leads the firm’s efforts to providing training and mentorship to attorneys and other team members to help cultivate the firm’s culture of excellence and equip all the firm’s attorneys with the skills and knowledge to provide the highest level of service to our clients. Katherine has served on the Commercial and Business Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association, as a member of the Leadership Development Committee of the San Diego Chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (ABTL) and as co-chair for the provision of child care at the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program’s Women’s Resource Fair.
