CalOSHA recently approved draft revisions to the COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS), which are to be finalized by the agency soon. These updates will likely go into effect on or before June 15, 2021, and will remain in effect until January 2022, unless further revoked or amended. While most of the ETS will likely remain unchanged from previous versions, some important revisions include lifting face covering and distancing requirements for fully vaccinated employees under certain circumstances, new respirator-provision requirements, and more. Significantly, some of the agency’s approved changes conflict with the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) guidelines, including requiring employees to continue to wear face coverings under most circumstances, so readers should continue to monitor for further updates.
