A Texas judge today issued a national injunction effectively halting new overtime regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Labor in May of this year. The overtime regulations would have raised the salary minimum for exempt executive, administrative, professional and outside sales employees from $23,660 per year to $47,476 per year and were set to take effect next week. The judge issued a preliminary injunction which will remain in effect while he considers the merits of the parties’ arguments. The case is State of Nevada, et al. v. United States Department of Labor, et al., Civil Action No. 4:16-CV-00731 (E.D. Tex).
