San Diego attorney Vickie Turner has been elected chair of the National Bar Association's commercial law section and a member of its board of governors.

Turner, a partner at Wilson Turner Kosmo, was recently elected to both positions during the group's 89th annual convention in Atlanta.

The National Bar Association is the oldest and largest association of African American lawyers and judges. The commercial law section is committed to bringing its members together with in-house counsel at major corporations, who seek to increase the diversity of their outside counsel ranks.

As chair of the section, Turner will lead an executive committee of 20 lawyers from law firms and corporations across the United States. Her program year theme is “Raising the Bar” as she leads the Commercial Counsel Conference on Feb. 26-28, 2015, in Naples, Fla.

The conference attracts more than 300 in-house and outside counsel attendees with transactional and litigation practices.

As a member of the board, Turner will help formulate and carry out the association’s policies and procedures.

“We are extremely proud of Vickie on her election to the National Bar Association leadership,” said Wilson Turner Kosmo founder Claudette Wilson. “Vickie has a long history of successfully carrying out leadership roles in the legal community, and she will be a great addition to the NBA.”

Turner has 32 years of experience in complex litigation matters filed against corporations, with extensive emphasis in the areas of product liability, class actions, general business litigation, and warranty.
